Mouth of cave/tunnel through Rainbow Rock
Partially submerged at high tide, the natural cave/tunnel through Rainbow Rock will empty out completely during low tide.  The passage is between 7 and 9 feet high in the Spring but the clearance decreases as sand is deposited in the Summer.
View of Rainbow Rock promontory.  The North entrance of the cave/tunnel can be seen.  When the tide is low you can simply walk around the promontory to get to the beach to the South.  As the tide goes up you must walk through the cave.  When the tide is high, you cannot get around to the South beach unless you wade in the water.

Looking South from balcony.  The green hill in the center is the Rainbow Rock Promontory.  From the Beach you can see wonderful multicolor folds of rock on the cliff wall that give the promontory it's name.  There is a natural cave and tunnel that cuts through the promontory that is accessible from the beach.

Trail to Beach
This video takes you almost all the way to the beach; stopping at a bench just before the final turn to the beach area.   Yes, I do need to work on my camera-steady skills!
Beach area directly below condominium, looking North.  The Rainbow Rock promontory divides the beach into this Northern section and a much larger Southern section that goes all the way to Harris Beach State Park (See the last picture on this page for a shot of the more expansive beach to the South of the Rainbow Rock promontory).  There are rarely many people on the beach.  On many afternoons you will have the beach to yourself.

This Rocky area offers great tide pool exploring when the tide is at it's lowest.  Look for sea otters in this area.
